Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 16, 2026
Quick summary: We use only one essential first-party cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site trackers inside the application. Our public blog may display ads that use cookies — see Section 4.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device to remember information between visits. They can be "session cookies" (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent cookies" (remain for a set period). Cookies can be "first-party" (set by us) or "third-party" (set by other domains).
2. Cookies we use
2.1 Strictly necessary cookies
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
connect.sid |
Keeps you logged in by storing your session ID. | 30 days (HTTP-only, Secure, SameSite=Lax) | First-party, essential |
This cookie is essential — without it you cannot log in to your account. It does not contain any personally identifiable information beyond an opaque session identifier.
2.2 Cookies we do NOT use
- Advertising cookies inside the authenticated application;
- Cross-site tracking pixels (Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, etc.);
- Behavioral profiling cookies;
- Third-party analytics that identify individual users.
3. Third-party services that may set cookies
- Stripe: when you visit a checkout page, Stripe sets its own cookies to detect fraud and secure payments. See Stripe Cookie Policy.
4. Cookies on our public blog
Our blog (https://www.oilscompanion.com/blog) is publicly accessible and may, in the future, display Google Ads to support free content. When we enable Google Ads:
- Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits;
- These cookies are governed by Google's Advertising Policies;
- You can opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com;
- EU/UK/EEA visitors will be shown a consent banner where required.
5. How to manage cookies
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can:
- Delete all cookies from your browser;
- Block cookies by default;
- Allow cookies from specific sites only;
- Browse in "incognito" or "private" mode, which deletes cookies when the window is closed.
Be aware that blocking the connect.sid session cookie will prevent you from logging into your account.
Browser-specific instructions:
6. Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control
We respect the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where applicable. Since we do not sell or share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising, the GPC signal has no material effect on our processing.
7. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision.
